Casterton village hall, which celebrated its centenary in 2012, is a focal point for social events in the village.
The hall is on the A683 in the centre of Casterton (what3words: ///factory.proclaims.goodbyes)
The hall is a warm and comfortable space which is suitable for a wide range of private or commercial events, and is available for hire by the hour.
There are chairs and tables for up to 60 people, and a well-equipped kitchen which includes a gas hob and two electric ovens, a fridge and commercial dishwasher. Hiring the hall includes use of a wide range of crockery, cutlery, wine glasses, tumblers, etc for the maximum number of people. For a formal lunch or dinner a ‘comfortable’ maximum is 50 to 60 people.
Free wi-fi available with 1Gb/s B4RN broadband. The hall also has a HD projector, 5.1 surround sound system, PA with two radio mikes and connections for blu-ray, laptops, phones etc.
Access
Access to the hall is via the steps at the front of the building, which are lit and have substantial handrails. There is also a ramp at the side of the building which leads to the kitchen door. It is possible for mothers with pushchairs or those with limited mobility or vision to enter the building this way if they so wish, but the gradient of the slope makes unassisted access for wheelchair users difficult. There is a disabled toilet in the building.
Parking
There is limited parking on the road outside, but by kind permission of Sedbergh Prep at Casterton, users of the village hall are allowed to park in the school’s Hollybush car park when the car park is not needed by the school. To access this, take the small side road alongside the church, bear right after 50 metres, and the car park is on the left hand side.
